For 39 years, Attorney Robert Nickerson has been fighting for his clients' rights.
Attorney Nickerson won the largest verdict, $12,700,000.00, ever issued in St. Clair County at that time, in the 2001 case of Phongphila v. Michigan Department of Transportation. This was a wrongful death case against the State of Michigan.
In representing clients in the state trial courts Mr. Nickerson obtained substantial legal settlements, including:

In representing hundreds of families, Attorney Nickerson has drafted and probated wills & trusts, prosecuted, and defended divorce cases. Attorney Nickerson has aided scores of clients in keeping custody of their children.

Attorney Nickerson served as Director of St. Clair County Bar Association
Attorney Robert Nickerson served as Prosecuting Attorney for St. Clair County
As the Prosecuting Attorney, Attorney Nickerson led a staff of eleven assistant prosecutors and was responsible for all criminal cases in St. Clair County. Prosecuting Attorney Nickerson aggressively prosecuted criminals, including rapists, murderers, drug dealers, armed robbers, unarmed robbers, embezzlers, and drunk drivers.
Attorney Robert Nickerson served as Corporation Counsel for the St. Clair County government
As corporation counsel he advised all county governmental agencies, including the Friend of Court, Health Department, County Sheriff, County Clerk, County Treasurer, Register of Deeds, County Planning Department, and the County Commission.
Attorney Robert Nickerson represented the government of St. Clair County before the United States Supreme Court in the case involving regulations of inter-state and international transport of waste to landfills, the case of St. Clair County et. al. vs WASTE MANAGEMENT et. al. This was a request to the Supreme Court to rule that it is constitutional for county ordinances to deter the importation of Canadian garbage.
In private practice, Attorney Nickerson served as Attorney for the Municipality of Ira Township in matters of zoning, union contract negotiations, regulation of licensed businesses, litigation before the Michigan Tax Court and the drafting and enforcement of construction contracts, leases, deeds and right-of-way agreements.
Attorney Nickerson also was:
Lawyer for E&A Credit Union in St. Clair County for real estate acquisition and for collection of defaulted loans
Lawyer for Michigan National Bank in Eastern Michigan for drafting commercial loan documents, litigating disputes concerning collections, mortgages, and construction liens
St. Clair County Circuit Court appointed mediator and privately retained arbitrator for over 30 years
